Kieferorthopädische Behandlung im Wechselgebiss

Orthodontic Treatment During the Transitional Dentition

The transitional dentition refers to the stage in which the baby teeth are gradually replaced by the incoming permanent teeth. If nothing unusual occurred in the baby teeth, age 8 to 9 is usually the ideal time for the first thorough orthodontic examination.

At this stage, many misalignments can be treated particularly well, since jaw growth is not yet complete. Depending on the findings, removable or fixed braces are used to specifically support tooth and jaw development.
